Shared Responsibility with Community Partners

Shared responsibility with the community to ensure community resources are accountable, responsive, and culturally sensitive
• Utilize regional/departmental solutions for keeping resources up to date
• Utilize community partners contracted by the agency to ensure effective and culturally sensitive service delivery
• Participate in collaborative meetings and events with community partners
• Form partnerships in each region to develop both formal and informal resources
• Seek input and guidance from cultural liaisons/leaders
• Include community partners in Family Centered Meetings (FCMs)
• Co-locate with community partners (in schools, police stations, churches, etc.) and at CWS offices
• Recognize community partner’s work and achievements through reporting (e.g., court reports, case consults, supervision)
• Share examples of best practice in working with community partners
• Be mindful of confidentiality procedures
• Have open and ongoing communication with community partners
Identifying and strengthening informal and formal resources in every community
• Ensure safety networks/after care plans have been established and are working with family when exiting the system
• Have ongoing discussions with families about quality, barriers, and gaps in community resources
• Implement cross-training with community partners
• Have targeted discussions with workers and supervisors in other regions (e.g., Learning Circles) to identify and strengthen knowledge of community resources and partnerships
• Discuss needed resources with supervisor
Services are evidence-informed  and continuously evaluated
• Seek out training and resources on relevant matters that impact families
• Participate in Learning Circles to share knowledge on evidence-informed services and evaluations of the programs offered.
• Attend trainings, co-trainings, and meetings with community partners to develop shared knowledge, including current and new resources
​• Provide feedback to community agencies and supervisors on what’s working well and what needs improvement in the services offered
• Share findings, tools, and resources used with the family (i.e., SOP, 3 Columns) with community partners to help them recognize safety factors and decision making from a common language and lens
Recognizing that families are a resource for one another and the community
• Attend FCMs to support the family and include community partners
• Make every effort to maintain familial connections by utilizing relative placements, identifying non-related extended family members (NREFMs), keeping children and youth in their communities and schools of origin, and keeping siblings together
• Use eco-maps, genograms, safety circles, and FCMs to highlight connections
• Strengthen the family’s support network to include family and informal and formal support systems in the community
• Understand the demographics of the community that you serve and how those demographics impact service delivery
• Become aware of any cultural resources and supports within the community that are available to help the family
• Solicit the expertise of community partners on how to best support families in their communities
